Korean Literature Theory and reading Korean fiction.

KTLIT LogoAs I’m away in far climes, today I post a link to an article simply titled “Korean Literature Theory” which I find interesting. It is written by a student named Joon Kim, in response to an assignment from his teacher.

It talks a little bit about how reading Korean literature varies depending on how much cultural and historical knowledge the reader has, as well as discussing various literary theories and how they might apply to reading Korean fiction.

Finally, it asks a question that I I know where I stand on (“yes!”)

if I was a native speaker and I was reading the novel without knowing the context, I know that I would appreciate the novel differently, but would I appreciate it any less?
