Hi Charles,
I just caught you on interview at Arirang and started reviewing your site. I was unaware of the authors you mentioned but will see if I can find them at whatthebook.
I am a budding author and have written a fictional story based in Korea. I would like to find someone who would be able to translate it in Korean. Do you think that Korean-Americans offer an advantage of translating back to Korean compared with those in Seoul. I would like to find someone fluent in both languages and enjoys literature of both cultures.
thanks for your site
In general, I think Korean Americans (who were born and raised in Korea) do the best cultural job, along with translation teams that include a Korean and English-speaker. Of course there are exceptions. You’d also need that Korean speaker to deal with agents, or newspapers/magazines if you were serializing…
Thanks for your response. I know that the legal arrangements prove to be the most difficult for something such as this. I would like to give deriviative rights of the work in Korean to the translator plus a fee.
Mark… contact me at the email here and we can discuss this off-blog. I have some specific questions..
What to have an Indonesian-Korean colaboration? Contact me
Stella,
