Poet Kim Yeong-nang revisited in English

In the Korea Times a review of Until Peonies Bloom: The Complete Poems of Kim Yeong-nang. It is translated by Brother Anthony of Taize,  who always does good work.

Kim was a profoundly political poet (although he also dealt with bucolic themes in his early work) who wrote about Japanese colonialism, resistance, and then the trauma of an ideologically sundered nation. He died during the Korean war and thus did not see the end of that ideological chasm.

As usual, translated poetry is not my thing, but if it is your thing, check it out!
