From Fuxi, more information on the 3rd Seoul Young Writers Festival, which will be held at the House of Literature in Seoul, and in the Jeonju Hanock Village in Jeonju. The Festival proper will be on Monday May 10th and Tuesday May 11th, before heading down to Jeonju for a tour.

Korean novelists will be joined in Seoul by top writers from around the world this coming May to meet fans and share ideas.

The 3rd Seoul Young Writers’ Festival, organized by the Literature Translation Institute of Korea (LTI Korea), will feature some 20 authors from home and abroad.

Among foreign writers, Junot Diaz, a Dominican-American writer and creative writing professor at MIT, will meet his Korean fans. He is the first Dominican-American to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for his novel “The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao” in 2008.

(2001)” and “Penguin Lost (2004),” will come to Korea for the second time after participating in the event in 2008.

Leena Krohn, the Finnish author who penned “Pelican Man,” will also take part in the festival. From novels, short stories, children’s books and essays, she deals with topics that touch on morality and the boundary between reality and illusion.

Hallgrimur Helgasonis, an Icelandic painter, novelist and columnist, and Danish writer Maja Lee Langvad will also join in the event.

The twelve Korean novelists taking part include Kim Ae-ran, Park Hyung-seo, and Pyun Hye-young ― and poets Kim Min-jung and Choi Seung-ho will participate, sharing ideas and experiences with the foreign authors.

The festival was launched in 2006 to pave the way for better communication among writers from around the world.

The event is designed to create new visions and voices in literature and promote friendships among authors globally.

The biennale festival is part of LTI Korea’s efforts to foster and promote Korean literature.
