When English Editing Goes Bad: Korea.net and the “Literature Sector”

Wow… Korea.net needs an English editor in the worst way.

Talking about awards given in Australia to Korean cultural influences, they say:

Others were awarded as follow; Hyun-Sook Hwang in Korean Literature sector, So-Hyun Park in Dance sector, Ok-Jin Jang in Painting.

They’ve managed to fit  an amazing number of grammar errors into a very small text:

  • a singular/plural error (“follow”)
  • several missing articles
  • a missing conjunction

Even worse calling literature the “Literature Sector” makes it sound like an industrial product, or something out of a 1940’s Soviet 5-year plan.

Nice picture though. ^^
