If you missed the “When Buckwheat Blossoms Bloom” festival this month? And who didn’t who speaks English, since it occurred from 9.05.2014 ~ 09.14.2014 and wasn’t really advertised in English, there is still hope to see buckwheat blooming in its native glory (and pour a bit of soju out for Kim Hyeo-sok). we had a walk on the Han today that revealed you can still see Buckwheat Blossoms (and in much tidier and closer clusters), on Seonyudo a little man-made island just off the south shore of the Han (click to embiggen).
And, a bit further towards the Yellow Sea, tucked under a bridge, are three small placards, one of which reveals author Kim Hoon (of the terrifying “Powder”) as a bit of a naturalist and fan of the river.
